When you hire a specialist like a plumber, electrician, furnace or AC technician they are going to look for a solution that is within their field. Martin, at Abacus Inspection Service, is a generalist. He knows a lot about all home systems. He especially knows how systems work together. So Martin can look at your problem for a multi-discipline point of view. Also, Abacus Inspection isn’t looking to sell you a new this, or that. We’re there to solve the problem, however simple or complex it may be.

One problem Martin was called out on was a case where a woman had this red stuff building up all over her home on carpets, shelves and more. She was actually scared. She had an HVAC technician come in because she thought there may be a problem inside the furnace. He found nothing. She contacted a mold specialist because she thought it may be mold. Nope, not mold. Neither contractor could determine the source of the red stuff, or what it was. When Martin went in he looked around and he also confirmed it wasn’t the furnace, and it didn’t look like mold. This took about 5 minutes. When he examined the red stuff more closely it looked like fibers. A possible source of fibers is a dryer vent. He looked behind the dryer and saw that the venting was intact and there was no buildup of red stuff behind it. Then Martin followed the dryer vent to see if he could find anything along its route to the outside of the home. Well, above the dryer and behind a cabinet Martin found an opening where two sections of dryer vent were separated an inch or two. What was all around the opening? Red stuff! The red stuff was lint from clothing that got blown around the home by the dryer. Most of it was white or grey, but when she washed her red clothing red fibers blew all around the home. This woman was so grateful to find the source of the red stuff, and to find out it wasn’t anything dangerous. She hired a dryer duct cleaning company and is living in her home problem solved, and worry free.
